A week ago, the film director Kevin Smith (Chasing Amy , Clerks, Dogma ) was thrown out of a Southwest Airlines plane for its size (it weighs its good kilos, and easily holds two seats in class). The plane took off when Smith still had tweeted situation, and thousands of people learned in real time of the insult. In response, the airline suffered considerable bad press (and the resulting economic losses as a protest against what many saw as discrimination) and an executive had to apologize to Smith, via Twitter, of course.
Perhaps one of the most unique events involving celebrities and Twitter was in Las Vegas last year during a function Believe, the show produced by Cirque du Soleil, Criss Angel's protagonist (who has had the worst reviews in the history of a Cirque show, and one of the worst in the history of Las Vegas). The blogger Perez Hilton , one of the most influential figures in the American blogosphere and in the environment of gossip of the stars attended to a function, and 20 minutes after the start, took his cellphone and sent a message via Twitter to half a million followers, saying the show was "unbelievably bad." A while later he returned to tweet saying "I prefer that they were doing a root canal" to be in the Luxor, attending Believe.
Towards the end of the function, not an unusual separate written in the script, Criss Angel (no doubt alerted by his team's tweets) addressed the audience and said "Ladies and gentlemen, I have to admit to
